Restrictions of the new universities.

In this article, I want to focus how important is to make some restrictions to the numerous and countless universities increasing in the country that is completely out of standard and uncontrollable, the government especially the ministry of education should stop the license to the new upcoming universities.
These numerous new universities were the result of the destruction of the country. After the collapse of the former Somali government in 1991, Somalia has lost its entirely system including the education sector, non-governmental organizations which have their own interests over-sized the education of the country, also there were organized people by their self which make private universities for especial purposes which its main purpose was making money from the education, some of them their purpose was religious affairs and to spread religious based objectives Bashir Isse who is lucturer at Simad university said“ the curriculum of the universities and schools of  1990’s was set by UNESCO and other non-governmental organizations  instead of Somali ministry of education” in order to regain our government and systematic education  some varsity restrictions are a key point.
The increasing and numerous universities may lead to be out of standard. Normally the more quantity is more less quality, I mean the quantity is directly opposite to the quality, as we know there is accepted standard in which any new university is required to come up with including number of professors, and PhD holders, more campuses, patents and etc. Somali scholars agreed that few universities are eligible as university level “less than 10% of Somali universities met the minimum standard of university requirements” [Eynte] some universities work with no campuses some of them pays rent every month that will lead to the increase the tuition fee of the university, also most Somali universities have no enough professors and PhD holders as well patents and copyrights. In order to meet the right and suitable standard of modern universities, some restrictions are inevitable.
With the increasing of the universities it will be difficult to be controlled. Only the capital city of Somalia, Mogadishu, there is nearly hundred universities, what an irrational it is? Could you believe that? Isn’t it wonder and surprise? The ministry of higher education has recently stopped giving the license of the new universities, because of fear to be those universities uncontrolled. how can a ministry can control those irrational universities in one town, in addition some other regions even have no any universities, as a result of less controlling, the universities start to make some illegal actions for example to admit students who has no secondary level certificates and etc. “last year thousands of students with no eligibility of university were admitted as an academic students” [samatar]. the other problems are that the exams of the universities are very simple and non-academic and in some universities there is no students who failed in their exams and all pass. In order to get more control from ministry of education to the universities, some restrictions are so vital.
There is less quality of higher education in Somalia, due to the increasing of the universities. The education of Somalia became business in recent years, and mostly their main purpose is to get a profit from the education, making and earning huge revenue from education is the worst wrong exist in the country, there is no credit hours, also there is no accountability to the lecturers, there is low payment to the lecturers, there is no perfect curriculum available to the students, one of the worst things I saw in my experience of the country was I saw book of 22 chapters which the lecturer covered only 10 chapters or less, is that education? Is it worth to be mentioned as an education, the scholars mentioned this as a disaster. Abdinasser Moallim who is also lecturer at simad university said” There is a disaster that bigger than the one we inherited from the civil wars and it’s the less quality and corruption of Somali education”  because of the less quality of Somali education, if a Somali student goes oversees for education, he/she must learn English before starting the degree, at last in order to make enhancing the quality of our education we need some restrictions to the new varsities.
Compared to developed countries have few universities at the same time high quality. United Kingdom, one of the most developed countries on this globe have one hundred thirty or about one hundred and sixty university and collages, in addition to that the most top ten university in the world lies in England after America, they have oxford and Cambridge, the best and most powerful universities in this cosmos, is it possible that Somalia which is one of the poorest countries in the world has more than one hundred universities in only the capital city of Mogadishu while Britain which is more civilized and developed has entirely one hundred and few universities, we need few universities with high quality like united kingdom and others, we need to be great place for education because of our quality, in conclusion in order to be like developed countries we should have few universities with high quality like united kingdom.
Because of the countless advantages of restrictions on the new universities including, the high quality we get if we make restrictions and easiness of controlling over the universities and its goodness of leading us to be standard and how it’s makes us easy to be like developed countries in the world we need to make some restrictions on the new and emerging universities in Somalia and I hope that it will be done by the ministry of higher education of Somalia.
