The neglected kids in the dirty water.

It was a Thursday morning, I Went to the hospital with my mom who was sick and visiting the doctor so as to get feedback and check if her prescribed medications did any improvements. After our visit to the hospital, my mom left me to visit her sister to the other side of the city, I was alone and on my way to the home. I was on Tricycle, it was raining cats and dogs and all the streets filled with floods, I was angry because over speed car carrying chat made me wet with dirty water from the road.
I once heard the Zinedine Zidane’s story. He said “I cried because I was not having a shoes to play football, and then I saw a man with no feet and then I realized how I’m lucky” I got angry because over speed car made me wet with dirty water, and then I see street children swimming the same dirty water and then I realized that my complaint was nothing. As I’m storyteller it was my responsibility to take a shot from them and share with Somali people and the world at large.
The Somali children are currently facing all kinds of violations including sexual violence, abuse, exploitation, and discrimination, they became drug addicted and they are engaged bad habits such as sniffing glue, chewing chat, smoking hashish and various pills from pharmacies, the street children from the minority groups in the IDPs are the most fragile ones, the street children can be divided into four categories,
1. Children working on the street and living at home {majority}
2. Children working and living on the street
3. Children not working but living on the street and using drugs.
4. Children roaming in the street and not working or addicting to the drugs (the minority).
The saddest part of the story is that 8% percent of the street children are girls and they are facing sexual violations in the nights, UNICEF stated the only 22% percent of the school-aged children attend school, they are wearing torn and oversized dress, and they are shoeless and have sand covered feet. They shift their families by doing shoeshine and car washing activities, they ask the restaurants to give them the leftover and thrown away foods. They use one place as both for sleep and for toilet purpose.
The UNICEF and other humanitarian organizations released that the estimated street children in Somalia are 10,000.
Possible causes of street children are:
·        There is no strong central government which can make schooling and care to those children.
·        The international organizations are not playing the expected role and local NGOs have no enough money to tackle this issue.
·        Separation and divorce of the Somali families.
·        The destruction of the extended families
·        Poverty.
·        Unemployment
·        Civil wars
·        Droughts
·        Due to the insecurity of some places in Somalia, the international organization can’t operate these areas well.
·        Child labor
·        Lack of schooling system
·        Conflicts
Recommendations
1. The government should make fundraising and start to make collages for these street children.

2. Call for the international organizations in important for this matter.
